Calculator# vs Hushkeeper
Calculator# – Hide Photos Videos looks and works like a calculator until you type your code. Hushkeeper can also disguise its icon as a calculator, but the bigger difference is what protects the files once someone gets past the disguise.
Updated
Short answer. Calculator# is a convincing disguise: a working calculator with a vault behind it, cheap upgrades and email password recovery. Its listing doesn't state an encryption method, and a disguise only helps until someone knows what to look for. Hushkeeper's Pro calculator icon is a disguise too, but behind it the files are sealed with published AES-256-GCM encryption.
Facts about Calculator# come from its US App Store listing as of November 2026.

"Not stated on the listing" means the App Store page doesn't say; it doesn't mean the app lacks the feature. Privacy labels are declared by each developer.
Disguise is not encryption
Calculator vaults are good at one thing: making the app look boring. As we explain in are calculator vault apps safe?, what matters once someone suspects the trick is whether the files themselves are encrypted. Calculator# doesn't state that on its listing. Hushkeeper encrypts files, thumbnails, names and folders on the device, so a copy of the phone's storage shows nothing readable.
Password recovery by email
Calculator# sends your password to a registered email if you forget it, which is easy to use. It also means the password can be recovered by whoever controls that inbox. Hushkeeper has no email and no account; you recover with a phrase only you hold.
Failed attempts
"Hack Monitor" logs failed password attempts, which is useful if you want to know someone tried. Hushkeeper doesn't log or photograph intruders; it focuses on making the vaults themselves uncountable, with a duress pattern in Pro.
Ads and tracking
The free version shows ads, and the privacy label declares contact info as used to track you. Hushkeeper has no ads or tracking in any tier.
